Choosing Life

WHEN YOU CHOOSE LIFE YOU ARE GIVEN LIFE

It’s more then a memoir, it’s a ministry…

In the book Choosing Life, sensitive and taboo topics relating to a mother’s journey are highlighted to show how the Lord’s hand was in the details of one woman’s journey of navigating a stillborn birth due to Trisomy 18, which is a chance genetic disorder caused by an extra copy of chromosome 18. Within this journey, a fear-based and political agenda to choose abortion over life was pushed by the medical community, and a mother felt the pressure to terminate her pregnancy, but she ignored the undue influence of doctors and well-intentioned kin and decided to choose life. In doing this, she became aware of God’s protection, processed her grief and fear, felt God’s love, and transformed into her authentic self. Despite this courageous choice, this mother was forced to grieve the loss of her child, but the Lord’s hand was in the details of her story through prayer, fellowship, and following the Lord’s leading, which brought peace to her suffering so that others may be inspired to find their truth, process their pain, and heal as witnesses to her heartful and faith-filled story that gave her life simply by choosing life.

A heartfelt and meaningful memoir and testimony about choosing life over abortion. Choosing Life is Julia Anne Simpson’s captivating and extremely courageous story of how she was presented with the choice, not once, but twice, to be pressured with fear by medical providers to abort her pregnancies or to fight with love and faith for her daughters’ lives.

Following the full journey of love relationships, platonic, romantic, unconditional, and conditional, Julia struggled to make sense of the sin and heartbreak she experienced while traversing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual battles.

It is this struggle that helped Julia to become aware of God’s protection, process her grief and fear, feel God’s love, and transform into her authentic self. Each chapter reveals a new example of how Julia was given the choice to choose her will, the will of others, or the will of God. With each choice, Julia chose to trust the unknown out-comes to God by surrendering fear and walking in faith.

Julia looks back at the influences of her familial, social, and religious upbringing and uses humor and genuineness to unpack cultural norms around taboo topics relating to life, death, and love in relationships. Her narrative highlights her approach to accepting and making difficult decisions, which is to follow her spiritual conviction, trust God and rest in His provision, breathe through vulnerability, grieve loss by being present with emotions, take accountability, release shame, be assertive, and maintain healthy boundaries. This approach supported Julia in making choices that were aligned with her greatest good according to God’s will, despite undue influences from others, and it brought her to her purpose.

The result is a powerful and captivating book that Julia wrote to show others how the Lord’s hand was in the details of her story and how prayer, fellowship, and following the Lord’s leading brought peace to her suffering so that others may be inspired to find their authenticity, process their pain, and heal. As Julia shares throughout, “When you choose life, you are given life.”

Dedication

This memoir is in tribute and dedication to both my daughters as well as the incredible women who have chosen life or felt the grievances of being a mother of an angel, no matter their age. To my daughter Sarah: although you never took your first breath in this world, you have forever changed my life and have a footprint that will always help others in this world. And to my daughter Lilianna: you are truly my answered prayer and my dream come true. I could not imagine my life without you, and I am so blessed to be your mommy.
